Commissions

Moya Henderson has received many commissions during her career from a range of organisations, performers and ensembles including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Musica Viva, West German Radio, Macquarie University, Helen Noonan, David Kinsela, the Australian Youth Orchestra, and Perihelion. Details can be found in the Catalogue of Works.

Her most significant commission was the opera, Lindy, based on the Azaria Chamberlain disappearance and court case. It was commissioned by Opera Australia and performed at the Sydney Opera House in October 2002.

Another important commission was the organ work, Sacred Site, which was commissioned by the Sydney Opera House Trust to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Sydney Opera House. It was performed in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House by leading organist and musicologist, David Kinsela in 1983.

In 2000 Moya was commissioned to compose the Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving for Kincoppal Rose Bay. This included a full choral mass in English and the work Two Sacred Songs for soprano and piccolo trumpet. The Jubilee Mass took place in June 2000 at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney.

Moya has completed a number of private commissions for individuals who wish to have unique music created to mark significant occasions such as weddings, funerals and graduation ceremonies. Moya particularly enjoys completing these personal commissions.
